Northrop Grumman Awards Sigmatex, Inc. an $11M
Northrop Grumman Ship Systems of Pascagoula, MS, has awarded Sigmatex High Technology Fabrics of Benicia, CA, a contract worth $11.2M.
This contract is for the supply of woven, multiaxial and unidirectional carbon fibre fabrics, in support of DDG1000, a Northrop Grumman Ship Systems and U.S. Navy Program. This program was known as DD(x) under the previous contractual phases. This contract is in support of two DDG1000 class ships. All composite fabrication will be performed in Northrop’s Composite Center of Excellence, located in Gulfport, MS. The various forms of carbon fabric will be produced in Sigmatex’s Benicia, California facility, using domestically produced carbon fibre. Delivery of the carbon fibre fabric is scheduled to begin in 2008 and run through 2010. According to Sigmatex President, Scott Tolson, this contract is the result of years of diligent work by both companies and is an excellent example of how the Sigmatex Team can work with our customers in the design and development of unique carbon fabrics to meet customer needs.
